Eeeeek!
Eeeeek!
After doing things all completely back to front and feeling like a bit of a failure - I have finally finished my degree - and I got a 1st
For anyone thinking of a career change, go for it! I can't say it was easy doing a degree with a house and a little one to look after (and working part time for some of it) but it was so worth it. I even got married, moved house and did a teaching qualification in the middle of it.
I don't have A levels, and I also got told at uni I have dyspraxia and a few other problems, so if I can do it anyone can. Just go for it!!
Now I just need to find a job.............. Anyone need an environmental scientist?

Re: Eeeeek!
Concerning the title of the post, I was thinking of the Librarian at the Unseen University (Terry Pratchett's Discworld books). Anyway congratulations on your acheivement. I know how hard it must have been as I have studied with the OU a while back.In the end I had to stop due to heavy work related commitments.
Has anyone seen the plot, I seem to have lost mine?

Thank you everybody.
It was really hard at times (there were many tears!) but I think anyone who's considering going back to study should go for it.

That is fabulous news Clarry, well done. I am sure employers will be well impressed that you have juggled so much and still came out with a 1st. What an inspiration! And so many things you can do with it.
I salute you

Re: Eeeeek!
well done!! that's brilliant!
I'm actually pretty jealous. I've been attempting a home-learning course over the last couple of years, but recently decided to quit. I'm just not the intellectual type I guess, and found it incredibly hard to fit coursework and studying around the kids, house, and working full-time (amongst other personal issues) hopefully I'll have the guts and the will to stick to it in a few years once things have settled down for me at home.

Congratulations. That's really well done.
I started an OU course a few years ago. I'm still only half way through it. I know how much hard work it is.
Good luck with the job hunting.
