Favourite board games.

Pandemic. It is a co-operative game. Each of you plays a randomly selected role and work together to try and cure the world of four serious diseases. However the turn of the cards each turn spreads the infection and can bring up epidemic events which cause quiet areas to burst out and infected areas to overflow. It is quite tricky to win but what I love is that you work together and either all win or, at least, all lose together.

I like Yaztee (probably not spelled correctly!). But my favourite is the one we always end up playing in caravans, You need a pack of cards, and then actions for when someone puts down an Ace, King, Queen, We always end up with different ones, and then once we've remebered what we are supposed to be doing, add in Snap, and Hearts. So, if after a few drinks you get a Snap, Queen of Hearts, you end up doing very strange noises and actions indeed (discovered I have no tolerance whatsoever for Jagermister!! )

its even funnier when you add a random category card , yes i made up my own card its naughty, rude but.. hilariously funny :P miss spent uni days im afraid!

I bought my hubby a pretty cool board game for Christmas last year called Go Green! It's a self-sufficiency and green living board game. I bought it at great expense from the Entertainer in Reading, it is quite marvellous!

T'other half is the one for boardgames. She plays Backgammon occasionally with friends of hers from her university days. She's also a whizz at Scrabble. I think I've done well if I can limit her score to less than 300!

We got settlers of Catan and Smallworld this xmas and they're great. Small world is a game a bit like risk set in a slightly cartoony Tolkeinesque world. Does't go on forever like risk though as it has a turn limit and no one knows who's won until the end as you keep all your victory points secret from the other players. We found that this stops players giving up as when we played with the inlaws they loved it.

My favourite game as a kid was a card game called Pit. It was based on the stock exchange and really loud as everyone had to shout all the time. You really needs lots of players to make it work so we rarely played it.

When I was doing the last module of my OU course, I had to design a board game. Mine was about joining a dating website. Some of you guys contributed some ideas. I finished the project, and the module and got a good mark so thanks to everyone who helped.

Apples to Apples

It is a word game with cards and sort of catagories, I play it with my teens and we always end up in hysterics, also had neighbours [age 6-60] round to play and they loved it. Would make a great party game too.

Got it in USA but it is listed here and very well worth it.

Risk is a good board game...though it tends to bring out my competitive side a bit too much! Munchkin and all expansion packs gets my vote for card games even though I have yet to win a game.

But Role Play games are by far my favourite. Dungeons & Dragons and Exalted all the way!
