I fancy going shopping

Trouble is that by the time I bought a new shredder and had a hair cut I couldn't think of anything to buy. And that was with a whole shopping centre in front of me.

I shouldn't have needed the new shredder if I hadn't been so impatient with the old one! I overfed it in one go. And it stopped working. I put off buying a new one till there was a surfeit of paper and the filing draw was getting full. And put off the hair cut till I looked like a hay stack.

It's a sad thing when I can't think of anything to buy. I went to the Harrogate Spring Flower Show and managed not to come home with less than a tenner spent. It's an expensive place - I mean I would love any of these statues but I don't have that sort of money in the bank. Hmm.

I really only want the Mad Hatter! It always reminds me of the original Trago Mills which had awful trouble getting planning permission for the original site. When eventually it opened there was a splendid statue of the one councillor who had supported them through thick and thin. And a mad hatter's tea party of all those who had made the life of the company more than very difficult indeed and nearly impossible.

It's much easier not to buy anything when the nearest shop is 70+ miles away.

(Although I am well acquainted with Ebay, which has just provided my new-to-me clothes, as all my old ones are too big ).

I usually end up buying (more) books when I go out to shop for desperately needed clothing...

Today I'm on a coach trip to some fancy gardens with the local older generation (they are good at outings round here) and no doubt will find something to bring home. I may have to miss the outing to the Gretna retail outlet though as I will probably have to be at home to take a delivery for a group of us who buy in bulk from a wholefood co-operative. Ah well - will spend something anyway to be included in the delivery. But food hardly counts as shopping.

Make sure you buy some cold water before you go in Flo.

We went to Tatton Park Show, a few years back, in weather only slightly cooler than you lucky folks down south are experiencing. The charges for small bottles of water were ridiculous, on top of which they had huge amounts of the stuff stacked out in full sun! I can't remember the actual price but I do recall we had to leave without seeing most of the show. It was so expensive we could only afford one bottle each and started to feel unwell quite quickly. I suppose we may have been going through a poor phase at the time, but I don't think we've ever been so poverty-stricken that we couldn't afford a bottle of water at normal prices.

Shame about the Gretna trip - a little retail therapy works wonders sometimes. I haven't been for years but there used to be a chocolate shop which, if I recall correctly, used to give very good value for money.

The plants were a bit like the water prices at the gardens yesterday so I left them there. But the gardens were spectacular so no problems.

It's not chocolate that I need but underwear Maggie. As to the chocolate, well I need some weight off as I'm soon to see the specialist about new knees.
