New potatoes for dinner

Post: # 290396Post Odsox »

Should make a nice change.
I came across a couple of sprouted spuds back in September, so I planted them in an old bucket of soil and put them in my new greenhouse with then intention of having them at Christmas. Well it's close enough so I tipped them out this afternoon and got more than enough for the two of us tonight.
So new potatoes and sprouts, two vegtables not often seen together

You can keep the sprouts but the spuds sound good.

Thaks for the reminder - I have some in an old washing machine bowl; I have been topping them up with soil every couple of weeks or so. It is too early for the ones in the ground but the tub spuds would be worth a look.

I must go and search for those potatoes I saw growing a few weeks ago, before a frost. I have also been growing flower sprouts as an alternative to sprouts and they are just like tiny little cabbages, my sprouts always seems to explode anyway so may as well cut out the middle man

For the first time in many years even my pitiful efforts in the veg garden are gracing the table. (previously single income, house load of kids, schools, etc. etc. dictated growing as much food as possible but this dropped off as work dominated) I am still coming to terms with our climate and what can realistically be grown here. - I need to significantly shift planting times for some and not bother with others. I am also finding out how little food is used now that we are only two.
