Winter storms

Post: # 291878Post Odsox »

Well it looks like the summer calm is soon over with Hurricane Helene about to come calling.
Murphy has dictated that it will hit Ireland next Tuesday just when we are due to catch the ferry to Wales.
Maybe it will be delayed a bit, or better still wander off and annoy someone else.

It looks to be missing us out, for once. I hope your travel plans go to plan.

Not necessarily Maggie, this is the long range forecast for Thursday midnight.
We are sailing on the Dublin > Holyhead ferry, so not as exposed as further south.

Guys, remember I have a standing order for any excess rain you can spare, sans wind of course.

There's a hooligan blowing here and the ground was bone dry before this.

Well something blew down one of the poplars in the school field behind my house. Squashed one of my greenhouses and took out three fence panels. Given that the trees are over 80ft high we got off very lightly with so little damage. School has already offered to replace the greenhouse and the fence.

Crikey, you're lucky that was all the damage.

The sky, here, has been a very odd colour this evening. Heavens knows what's brewing!

I've been looking at the forecast for your neck of the woods, and you've not had a good week or two have you?
Most of the UK sunny and calm except northern Scotland ... wet and windy.
Poor you :hugish:

Meh, we've not needed to venture out, apart from Thursday, when the gal and I went to Inverness to shop.

It's a little earlier than usual but this iss standard autumnal weather thus far. It hasn't been cold though - we've not needed to light the boiler yet, although I think it won't be too much longer, it is getting a bit nippy in the evening.
