good luck with stopping smoking Jill.

Figs are good for constipation too.

and for the emotional/physical cravings - have you heard of EFT? It's simple to learn, and you can download a free manual from here: www.emofree.com

it's either one or the other, or neither of the two.

Thanks Ellie

Have used TFT but not EFT, so will have a look, thanks for thinking to pass it on.

All going fine so far (day 5 now) but will take all the tricks I can fit up my my sleeve for more trying times (e.g. visiting my chainsmoking parents :banghead: )!

Thanks again to everyone for the good wishes & advice, it's like having my own personal trainer but without the exercise :wav:

PS could we retitle this constipation & smoking prevention Susie? I'd be MOSTLY on topic then

keep going girls, for the emotional, nervous, stressful part of the stopping, try camomile tea, or lemon balm and ginger teas, lovely warming and calming too... there are lots of herb teas that you can make at home that will help relax you more, and the fluid also helps with the pooing too.... I gave up 5 years ago, its a liberating feeling... once you get through the stress... the best bit for me was the feeling free... for 32 years (I smoked) I felt tied to fags, always in my head was the ' oooh I only have 5 left, where can I get some, can I afford a packet, will I run out before the shops open, fags and the need to have them ruled my life, sounds daft now but thats how it was, I was hard up for money and the need to find money for fags consumed hours... now.... no probs... keep trying, and if you slip up odd times, dont beat yourself up, just restart a fresh...
good luck :flower:

Thanks for your good wishes and tea suggestions. Haven't ventured down to end of garden as much (around 20times a day less)! Will go and hunt for any herbs not ravaged by the frosts this aft.

Day 8 now so am happy to have made it through week 1. I can't believe how much time it frees up. Not just the smoking time but all the worrying about when I can get away to smoke, cleaning my teeth and washing my hands and face so I don't smell of smoke and all the time feeling rubbish about smoking.

Just wish I could get rid of this damn chest infection and sinusitis - my chest's never been so bad

Thanks again :hugish:

Stick with it Jill. You'll find allsorts of possible chest infection-type stuff going on for a week or two. It's just your body getting used to functioning without nictotine, & cleaning out the respiratory system. I found also, that insomnia was a problem for a few days, but this is a common reaction to the lack of nicotine. Think of all the benefits of not smoking, then try to find one advantage for smoking! It's well worth the effort & i wish you well.
it's either one or the other, or neither of the two.

There ya go! done, now we can all be on topic
You can edit it yourself Jill, just click on Edit on the right hand side of the post. Obviously you can only edit the title of a thread if it is you who started it though!
