Looks a little like a yellow stainer http://www.rogersmushrooms.com/gallery/ ... d~5503.asp
but hard to tell without a cross-section or a view of the gills.

could be agrocybe cylindracea, could be a horse mushroom, agricus macrosporus, field mushroom, make sure it is not a destroying angel. as that will kill you.

Try taking a photo of the mushroom from all angles as that will help identify it too.

ah ha. im still here. the only mushrooms i ate were the chanterelles. and im pleased to announce. they were delicious. just picked a box today. there getting scoffed with wild brown trout tomorrow.
i was back at the glen today. those chanterelles were my first wild mushrooms ive eaten. even my wife trusted me enough to eat some. theres still loads of chanterelles there. will there be fruit there for a few more weeks. i wonder. luckily where i come from nobody picks mushrooms
