She is quite ecstatic at the slightest whiff of bleach!

I was cleaning the shower this morning with a very mild solution of bleach and water. She came dashing upstairs and was rolling around on the rug, wriggling and squirming, rubbing her head up against the shower door and generally acting as if I had just given her a huge helping of catnip.

As we don't use bleach in France (the fosse problem) she doesn't encounter it often - but when she does, wow!

Has anyone else had a cat do this?

Yup, a few of ours do this. It's very strange isn't it?! We don't use bleach often but when we do it is very amusing to see cats rolling around!

its the smell I would think ... you know, Ammonia, like in pee?! especially tom cat pee ;)

One of mine has a thing about cardboard boxes.... not just to sit in them (all cats do that) but to chew a hole & climb in it, then chew a hole somewhere else to get out again! It looks like we've had mice when he's made cardboard confetti ... so dont tell me about Odd cats!!!

Our Jenny who passed away over 2 years ago loved peanuts and crisps.
Our new cat, Pixie, loves jumping in puddles or go sliding on them when they are frozen... I think, she things she is a Labrador...
So it looks like there are quite a few crazy cats about....

Ours loves mint. Not catmint - she's not interested in that - but peppermint. We have to be careful if meeting her just after brushing teeth - she'd lick them if we let her

Are there any ''normal'' cats then?

One of my cats is very weird, when the bin men come in to the street she'll jump on the window sill and growl at them! She doesn't do it to other passers by, just the bin men!

We had a cat who climbed into the courgette and mint soup pan and licked it clean!

Our Norse forest cat called Loki...hates cold,rain and snow.
She'll eat anything, including hot peanuts,Thai food,green peas,white beans in tomato sauce etc.
And despite munching down everything she can find she's as lean as a ferret.

Wodan,our half-breed Norse forest is built like a bull-terrier.
Huge,broad-chested and a bit overweight.
He can get scared senseless by mice,small birds and kittens.
When we introduced Odin to our household,a 3 month old kitten,he completely panicked.
Wodan ran towards the kitchen door,hugged the doorpost and wailed, yes, Wailed like a small child.
He does like to sleep out in the garden in the rain,but fails to clean himself up afterwards.
Once he brought home his first and only prey...a slug that had gotten entangled in his fur.
He apparently didn't notice it.

Odin seemed to be the first relatively normal cat in our house.
But the first oddities are slowly surfacing now at 5 months.
Her tongue is at least twice the length of what would be normal?
She can wash most of her face unaided by her paws...must be some gekko blood in there.

Loving reading these posts, I just want to say all cats are odd!

I would love to meet your cats!

My old cat used to 'chirp' whenever you rattled loose change. My brother discovered that she would do the same when he waved paper money in her direction and ditto his credit card.
Cats are all mad...but never boring.
