Seperated at birth were we Milly...?!  (have to say people look at me like I'm the devil incarnate when I say I don't like Aylesburys!)
I do like mine (not pure Aylesburys anyway, just white ducks from a French market) but I'd like to bloody stuff gags in their mouths sometimes!

I never liked muscovies because they're so ugly  and I wanted cute ducks  but mine have always been timid and didn't quite turn out to be the pets that I wanted, not to mention they've destroyed my lake bank and lay too many eggs!

And you still like them..??!  You wanna get yourself a couple of nice PRETTY muscovies hun...

It is funny, when I see other peoples muscovies at shows I do think theirs are rather unnattractive. Maybe it's because mine all have such nice characters... Dunno. I do know I wouldn't swap em for the world!

Please do elaborate on the problems associated with Aylsburys, as we have Muscovy at the moment and they eat a lot for the meat that one gets back and are therefore expensive to keep.

we had a muscovy duck for our dinner tonight, for the size of them there was not a lot of meat, after all the trouble gone to defeathering etc. I kept Aylesburys for years didn't get any problems, they were nice natured and laid quite well.

Out of interest we find it best to leave for one day before taking feathers off and then hang another day, the upside is that one can collect the down for nice pillows or even a great mattress.
