Hello and welcome, if you find that you have no joy on the allotment front you might want to look into any community projects that could be near you, or perhaps ask freinds with gardens if they would donate some land to you in return for fresh veg.

greetings!
have not been an active poster on here for a while so thought i would give you an update.
new job, lovely girlfriend.
i now live in a semi detached house with a garden!!!
i have a small veg/herb patch and have been quite lucky that everything is growing as the soil is not the best.
but the good bews is that i also have a half plot allotment! it is huge, about 6 meters by 14 meters. i have cleard just under half and have planted tomatoes, 2 types of onions, potatoes, courgettes, peas and beans.
i was lucky in getting the allotment as i had given up hope, so went though the whole ringing up people process to find the right person, but when i did within one week i was a plot holder!
was also surprised that my rent was only £1.75 a year!
i hope to have the whole plot ready for planting by christmas, and will let you all know how i am getting on.

Haha - hey Chris - you and me both.
Gave an update myself a few days ago - pretty much the same - was waiting for an allotment, then moved to house with garden - so on and so forth.
It's interesting how things move on when you set your mind to it!
All the best!
