carpet sweeper out performs hoover

Post: # 91530Post Andy Hamilton »

Just got a carpet sweeper for £3.50 from a charity shop and it works better than the bottom of the range £15 hoover we have. We were thinking of getting an expensive bagless hoover but no need now.

My nan had one of those. as a child I was facsinated with it. very good idea actually!
does it work on hard floors? My daughter and I both have ashma so we don't have carpet. wonder what the chances of me picking one up from a charity shop? I guess when you have one you keep hold of it.

Mine will pick up `bits` from the hard floor but not dust. But a damp mop takes care of that with no problem.

I have one I got from a garage sale that picks up surface stuff. My 45-year-old Sears-and-Roebuck canister vacuum cleaner works well enough for my carpeting. I think carpet sweepers are very nifty. I do like how quiet they are, and have no cords!

I'm definitely getting a carpet sweeper rather than a hoover when i move. I can't stand the noise of hoovers!!

We have a carpet sweeper too - I love it! There's something quite zen like about carpet sweeping :D
No good for hard floors though, especially ours as our floorboards are wonky......

you will damage your floors using carpet sweeper ... I use a Swifty mop but with a disposable cloth so I can wash it rather than the static mops they supply. no dust, no noise and quiet freindly.. and damp mop with water and white vinegar every couple of days ...

When we had carpets we had carpet sweeper and the kids loved using it ... saved me a job :flower:
