Old furniture from new
When we moved into this house last November the previous owners left us a stack of furniture they couldn't pack up in their van to take back to the UK. Being loathe to throw it out but not really liking any of it we have busily been trying to turn it into items we can live with.
Here's OH's latest attempt. This was an Ikea modern pine chest which is now (assisted by some pine from a tired old bunk bed set, some cheap metal hinges, knobs and a lot of wax) something I really like. It's now a lovely little dresser, complete with extra distressing to the right hand door which was a result of things not quite going as planned and being given an almightly slam which split the wood. All now repaired, planed off and well waxed. Now he is working on making a strange little oak gateleg table into a coffee table, a base for another little table and a spare pairs of legs for goodness knows what at some point. He is quite determined nothing will be wasted and so far we've almost completely renovated and redecorated the whole house for about €150.

Growing old is much better then the alternative!

Give that man a pat on the back - it's got so much more character now. I especially like the hinges - they work really well.

I'm impressed. Talent, skill, creativity and it's super. Congratulations.

Quality!...(love the bean slicer!!)
it's either one or the other, or neither of the two.

Wow - what a brilliant transformation.
I re-used a partly completed compost bee hive to make the new hen house. The ex had started the project and given up half way through. It had sat on the patio for 4 years and i thought it would be a useful start. I wish I hadn't. Age had twisted the carcass and nothing lined up properly. Oh well. It'll do for now.

That's really attractive! I'm not a dresser person myself, but i can appreciate the work and effort that went into it!
