Bom Dias from Portugal.

Post: # 128598Post patR »

Hi,Im so pleased to actually find asite that suits me!! We moved to Portugal almost 3 years ago, to be warm, live as cheaply as possible, as well as possible, and leave as small a footprint as we can, having said that....
I want to enjoy my life, we dont take things to extremes, we love our motorbike, and dont enjoy too much hardship.
Life here is lovely, we bought a ruin, no water, sewage, elec, etc and spent the first year living in our old bus, now we are in the house and its great, still very basic but then it always will be. but we have a flushing loo and some lights. We dont have tv, or consumer goods apart from a freezer, as we grow our own veg and feed ourselves from the freezer during the winter. We have a wood fired kitchen range that heats the house ad cooks our food free.... we collect wood from the forest...hmmmm dont know what else to say but happy to aswer questions if there is any. :sunny:

Thanks for the welcome, I also forgot to say, if I dont reply for a while sometimes it's cos we dont have internet and have to come into town to a internet space, and sometimes it just doesnt happen... hell sometimes we dont even have electric..
It is wonderful, but realisticly living in a semi ruin can be tricky, the weather has changed last night, its cooler (only 61 this morning) yeah yeah I know but to us its decidedly chilly, and some of our doors are actually still woodframes with plastic stapled on,our roof is bare tiles, our floors cement , we have invested in a woodfired range which just about took all our dosh and as our rental unit is very quiet at the mo due to the economic climate in the UK things are very tight, but hey, wood is free I have a freezer and store cupboard full of food, the water in the well is pure and free.... what more do we need...
Im not complaining, I love it, I just dont want people to get a false idea of what its like.
