What do you put in your pancakes?

You all seem to be such proficient chefs. Well here is a place to share some of that cooking knowledge. Or do you have a cooking problem? Ask away. Jams and chutneys go here too.

What do you put in your pancakes?

Post: # 12886Post Andy Hamilton »

As it is shrove Tuesday (Pancake day) I thought I would find out any alternative fillings to put in pancakes.

I fry up some onions and garlic, the throw in some frozen spinach and add some cheese right at the end. Well nice.

I,ve used them like canelloni in the past. Just put a bolognese mix in, roll them up, cover with cheese sauce and bung them in the oven.
You can make lentil bolognese while the meat,s on hold.
I want to wake up in the morning and see green!

I'm having mine sweet, lemon and sugar and/or golden syrup, or maybe maple syrup! Yum yum, mix all made and ready to rock and roll!

Oh and I think I will state for the record that I absolutely loathe French horrible thin dried out crepes and as for the Breton galette (buckwheat savoury filled pancake) it's an abomination!

Jam, preferably - or stewed apple, or chopped raw apple in the batter and then fry them quite thick, with cinnamon.

If savoury, then mushrooms.

We were in a rush to get down to the pub to meet with some people involved in a local community website (a project I'd love to see growing it's userbase and become a way of reforming community ties) so didn't have a lot of time to ponder over pancakes on Tuesday... sugar and freshly squeezed lemon juice for us!

I make them once a week 'cos my son likes them for breakfast, so pancake day's not special for my household at all!
My favourite filling is just simply sugar and fresh Lemon juice.
I really like the sound of Blueberry's and Philadelphia!!!

I only have pancakes once or twice a year - will have try as a dish with cannolloni. I usually make my own pasta - will be a good (and easy) change. almost due for a new batch of bolognaise sauce. thanks for the idea Libby.

I make pancakes about once every three weeks I guess. Just when I fancy a quick and easy meal.
