Bread and Butter plant.Real name?

Post: # 145694Post matowakan »

I cant remember what plant has the common name of bread and butter. I think it may be two parts of the same plant.
Can anyone help me out and save me going through about 10 books to where I saw this name? :(

Hawthorn? that is what my Mums husband calls it anyway....ETA I mean the plant I call hawthorn, he calls bread and butter... and as a kid he used to eat the leaves.

The young buds. We called them bread & cheese but probaly a local variation. Used to pick them and chew as kids. Ned a lot for a salad.
