Not the most usefull tree, timber is mediochre, leaves and conkers are poisenous to humans, but the leaves do have saponins, I believe, and are in any case a soap substitute. It is one of the first to come into leaf, so cheers the spirit after a long winter with the first flush of green.

That was a very touching account. You are right, love ya Mom forever, and appreciate her fully when alive.
I wrote down a lovely poem written by an appache medicin man Ernesto Alverado, for his friend who had lost his wife. Allthough it was written for a spouse, much of it relates to the loss of any loved one.
I will listen to the wind - Ben Pari
I listen to the wind
For now I know where love goes,
As I listen to the breeze that blows
That once I thought only brought snows.
That breeze that cooled the heat of day
The breeze as it ran blew fragrance of spring,
The breeze tossed dust and blew the stars
The breeze that calmly slapped the sea.
Who would know the day beside your grave,
Away the wind would blow the scent of thee,
My love would fly, a tear I'd cry and you'd be gone from me.
But now as I look towards the sky
On summer days, on winter nights
Fall crisp morns or warm spring eves
Your essence caresses me.
So now I know our love still glows
Our lips will meet when breezes blow
Your love on wind returns to me.
