How about this for an idea: a font with lots of tiny holes inside the letters (effectively invisible at normal text sizes) so that printing a page uses less toner / ink and thus reduces the rate at which consumables are wasted?
If you think it is genius then check out ecofont, a new open source font that does just that. I haven't tried it yet but it is definitely on my to-do list.

Re: Ecofont
I recently read a book which seemed to have something like this set up (Careless in Red by Elizabeth George). The text seemed a bit softer on the eyes (although still quite legible) and, when I looked closely, it had lots of tiny holes in each letter. I would imagine it could save quite a bit of ink on such a long, popular novel (although, to be honest, I think it could have done with editing down so it wasn't so long in the first place!)
