I really hate fly tipping

I run a lot through the country lanes and you see all sorts of crap that people dump by the side of the road.

Next time I see a sofa I am going to write to the paper saying that whilst clearing it away I found a winning lottery ticket down the back of it.

Make it something believable like £10,000 and see if any one comes forward

Fly tipping is vile but having experienced being turned away from 2 local tips because I was in a van I can kind of see why people are tempted!

The lottery ticket idea is a good one!

Over the last few weeks we have had a mattress, car seats and a whole pile of general rubbish dumped in our country lane. This is an ongoing problem, admittedly upon letting the Council know they come and pick it up but what a waste of resources.

A lot of councils will pick up large items for a small fee so there really is no excuse for this type of behaviour. I agree that it doesn't help when Landfills have height barriers but most will allow you to park a high vehicle outside the site and put your rubbish on a trolley and push it in yourself.

I was rowing in the harbour many years ago. It was about 6 in the morning and no one was around when I spotted a car pull in the carpark. The guy got out opened up the boot of the car and dropped a black bin bag of rubbish in the water.

I thought WTF so I rowed over to the floating bag and looked inside and it was full of fish heads and guts etc. The bag must have had some small holes in it as it had begun to sink by the time I got to is and it was heavy to pull into the boat. I rowed over to the steps and walked up to the guy but he didn't see me as he was busying himself with something on the drivers seat so i just dumped the bag back in his open boot, said something along the lines of "you dropped something mate!" as I quickly trotted off down the steps and back into my punt. By the time he had realised what had happened and looked in the boot I was away but I bet his car stank for weeks.

Fantastic, Mamos well done! ..I did a similar (but less smelly) thing when I saw a young women in a carpark open her window and drop all the macdonald rubbish out...I was walking past so picked it up and quickly shoved it back through the window saying " you dropped this"...she went and put it in the bin but there was a lot of swearing and black looks in my direction!
I love the idea of his car stinking of fish for days...wonder if he worked out how to dispose of it properly the second time?? :dontknow:
