Aniseed scented plant

Post: # 210133Post zaxdog »

Hi All,

My OH and I were out gathering sloes today and noticed a plant that smell strongly of aniseed! It had furry leaves that seemed to be turning from green to a lilac colour! Any ideas what it might be and if it is edible? We live on the Isle of Lismore and this was in a boggy area.

Thanks in advance

Definatly sounds like fennel, wich you can eat as it goes great with fish and if your lucky to get the seeds they are great for an upset stomach, nice find well done. :flower:

Not feathery leaves, they are furry but the smell is really strong. Will try to post a pic!

It sounds like wormwood! But that generally grows in dry areas?

I have found fennel. There is lots of it at an area where I usually pick blackberrys. I am glad I came across this thread as I didnt know what to do with it. Thank you.
