What are we all having for dinner?

We had a left over Bolognese sauce (home made with extra grated carrots and mushrooms) with some jacket potatoes and a bit of grated cheese on top. Then we had some left over apple and banana crumble made this week-end (with apples picked in a "wild" tree on the side of a road)...
Tomorrow, it is left over pork stir fry made by hubby with cabbage and carrots. I will just have to cook some rice to go with it.

Tonight the lovely OH is making a mince round which we are having with mash and peas! He makes really great pastry!

The mince was (reduced) £1.35 for 800g so Toby is making his round with half and I am using the other half (bulked out with soy mince) to make spag bol to freeze in individual portions!

Brekkie here today is banana porridge for him and soup for me and lunch will be soup with fresh rolls!

- is that a pie? I've never heard that term before.

I'm a bit miffed - the electricity was supposed to be off today (which we only remembered this morning) so the boiler isn't lit (it boils alarmingly if the pump isn't working!) and the smoked hough I was going to slow cook with split peas is sitting in the fridge! It's now 12.30 and it hasn't gone off yet - too late to do it today so I'll have to do that tomorrow - so what to have tonight?

The good news is it's really sunny today so the living room is quite warm despite no heating

Beef shin cooked in soy, cider vinegar, apple juice and ginger, a la HFW. With a few extra ingredients and a substitution of red peppers for chili. Really looking forwards to it :D

Trying to think of a way to cook mussels that we will like! There are loads on the shore and we weren't keen when we first tried them so I am thinking ofa way to disguise them lol.

Clean mussels,
2-3 Onions Chopped
Garlic chopped (To taste)
Cook the garlic and onions in butter till onions are clear, add Mussels
Add add White wine ( Plonk will do) until you just cover the mussels,
Add plenty of Parsley,I throw two handfuls
Cook until mussel have opened up.
Add 2 or 3 pots off Natural Yoghurt's stir well,
Eat with fresh crusty bread,

One of my all time favorite meals, with a few glasse' s of wine of course.

A mince round is a short crust pastry pie filled with a mixture of minced beef, onion, carrot etc!

Well, I have my son and his girlfriend lodging while the house they have bought goes through. So I decided to do a nice meal last night for us, we had Chicken Merengo and gnocchi senza patate with mashed potato! YUMMMMMMMMM!!!!!

Yesterday, I pulled some carrots for the chef-guy in the local garage/diner..... I didn't charge him though

Today, I got a rather nice tub of cottage pie for lunch, made with my carrots and he didn't charge me either!

Leftover Beef short Rib meat, removed from the Bone, swimming in a Indian Curry-Lentil sauce boil in the bag called "Dal Tadka" over a bed of Basmati rice. I cracked open a '03 california Zin Blend from Ridge. Usually I don't treat myself so well, but I cellebrated the completion of splitting and hauling and stacking a Large Oak tree I cut down last April. The logs were stacked in a place that'd be in the way for snow removal (couldn't find a smiley with a snow shovel) ...So it had to get done soon

I like them dipped in egg and breadcrumb and deep fried,bit of lemon juice or salsa/chilli /whatever sauce for dipping.

Turkey tikka, brown rice and salad. I know it's not salad weather but I somehow can't imagine tandoori without it
