Sigh for the lost art of home cooking. At least DIY in the kitchen gives you some choice about which form of poison goes into your food.

It has ever been thus for city and town dwellers I suppose that they must go with what they can get at the market, made and sold by persons unknown.

Hello there ,

as from today German pork is also contaminated with dioxin .
Some governmental rocket scientist found that the levels were twice as high as normal , so according to the
government we can eat foodstuff which is normally contaminated , but twice the dose is dangerous ?

After the chemical fire in Holland last week higher levels of dioxin have been found in the vegetables growing on
the land , sprouts and so on , so we've been advised not to eat them . Until some money loving crowd sees chance to sell
the lot as dioxin free food .Further , the lord major of the council said that it is normal ?? that dioxin levels are higher
in the winter , where did he do his home work ?

Win the lottery , go 100% organic ,

regards ,

Paul

I think that this is massively representative of intensive farming methods where unnatural methods and feed are used to raise animals. There are so many examples of this that intensive farming should be banned. We need to nurture less greedy future generations.

I totally agree.
The only slight problem is, millions of people will die through starvation.
You need to either reduce the world population or invent other ways of providing vast quantities of food first.

Been there, done that. The mis-named 'green revolution' found those vast quantities of extra food.

As fossil fuels decline, so will the population.
There is no question. Cap and Share or TEQs is the answer. Even Cap and Dividend!

With sufficiently sensitive analysis, you will find almost everything almost everywhere. Some dioxins are produced by natural processes (such as wildfires and volcanic eruptions), so they will inevitably turn up (usually at very low levels) in event the most "pristine" environments.

Totally agree, that it is impossible to eradicate dangerous substances from the food chain and testing will always uncover low levels but my concern is the health risks posed by the chemical cocktail of all the small doses of the untold number of various chemicals.

I think this is the right idea for farming and for the future
