...about the wisdom of extending our food growing activity this year is firmly put to bed by this article:

World food prices at fresh high, says FAO - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-12354402

I mean, have you seen the price of onions  I used to put them into everything savory to stretch the meat out a bit. I'm growing hundredsthis year.

there was quite a dramatic increase here a few years ago.when lots of farmers decided to put their fields over to bio diesel crops........ so up went everything. meat, bread ,veg, etc etc..... and no sign ( round here anyway, of any bio diesel at the pumps!

I´m growing as much as I can fit in , in the small space I´ve got, well last yearwas the frst time, and in spite of many failures, it was overall a success. hoping to do better this year!

so how much are onions, round your way? or potatos, etc.......

It doesn't half scare me sometimes. It's gonna cause so many more riots...
