What is it ?

Post: # 224856Post sarahkeast »

Home after visiting brother. :hugish: He has moved house and offered me "whatever you want" out of his old garden before he tidies it up to sell house.

Dug out 7 fruit bushes, fortunately still wearing their labels from planting [ridiculously close] last year; black and red currant, blueberries and raspberry.

Also relocated a fruit tree, apparently it is apple or pear, he doesnt know. Any way of telling other than waiting for it to fruit ? Sadly the label came off. It is a new tree, tall and skinny, but will be found a space somewhere. Will I be able to tell from the blossom ? I already have several apples and a pear, so just hope it has an appropriate family member. Unlike me ! :occasion5:

Thanks for suggestions
Sarah :flower:

On last years branches, if the shoots are very pointed its probably a pear, and if the shoots are more rounded its probably an apple.

The bark of the branches of pear also tend to be more greener than apple, which is more browner.
With 40 years experience the goodlife normally ends up costing money one way or the other, and a bad back ???
