Britons, get your acts together

Post: # 228781Post mk_ »

Your stuff is all around places.
(I'm a finn)

How much energy you are using annually?

Our family is 2-4 persons.
Annually we're using 13-16MWh of electricity and 3-4 qubes of wood in a two floor house of 160m2.
(annual non heating energy is ~8Mwh, hot water included)
(conserved wood energy is ~2-3MWh and heat pump saves 2-5MWh of electricity)

Perhaps a more suitable post would have been one that was put in a less adversarial way?

The posters on this forum are the very people in general who are trying to minimise their energy useage and to leave as small a footprint on the world as possible!

Blood of Mary Stuart is weak.

The footprint of a blood of Mary Stuart is small.

Can't you connect North and Mary Stuart?
Don't be so serious.

Put up some energy stuff and we can start talking.

People are roasted and they are smiling.

I'm not a bad quy eighter.

Despite my energy usage I have a solid goal to be a self sufficient one day.
And it's not even difficult, only labour intensified.

One other thing,
you're almost in subtropic environment and you're struggling.

Six hour of Sun (1kW) gives you more than a fusion of glauber salt of 100kg.
That's 32,4 degrees of heat quite a some time.

The basics of your situation is twisted.

(its' already evening around here)

I don't think you'll have any difficulty achieving self-sufficiency, mk_. Being by yourself appears to be your aim.

Oldjerry was referring to Britain being overrun by Scandinavians. It was a bit of a joke, you see? Inventing Mary quips is not only irrelevant but also a bit childish.

How old are you, by the way?

I'm old enough.
No idea of scandinavians being on top of the mole hill though.

I was also banned a moment or the site had a maintenance moment or so.

Never the less, still no single energy usage.

Hello MK_, I wish I knew what you are talking about.
I have no idea what Mary Stuart has to do with anything, or her blood.
But going back to your original post .. how do you have a family of 2-4 ? Is it 2, 3 or 4 or don't you know ?
Also if you're using 13 to 16 Megawatt hours of electricity per year, that's a horrendous amount, that works out to over 40 Kilowatt hours every day. I realise that you live in the frozen north, but 8 Megawatts per year for ordinary usage without heating is still nearly 22 Kilowatt hours per day.
My electricity usage averages about 10 KWh per day and I'm a fairly heavy user, so maybe you should realise that not only are you preaching to the converted, but maybe you ought to put your own house in order first.
Tony

Disclaimer: I almost certainly haven't a clue what I'm talking about.

Don't defend your situation, it's good.
(half of our annual usage is Dec-Mar)

For example, if you've bended a square meter of aluminium plate and are around when it sould be turned towards the Sun you'd already done the most of it.

So you are wasting a shed load of energy! when you get it down to 3.044mw PER YEAR come back and tell me to reduce my energy consumption.
