Anyone got any experience with growing bonsais? Baobab for example?

I had bonsai alders for a while - you must be VERY careful with the watering; not too much not too little :-( loverly little trees, i should have another go . . .

The book said to plunge the pot into a bucket of water every day (or something) - life is too short.
