Couldn't agree more - made some once and never again. It was vilely bitter. Ugh!
And why couldn't you run your own still? The Scots have done it for centuries  It's just the getting caught at it that's the problem. Anyway, I think it's a bit of a risk; takes 10 years to find out whether you've made decent stuff - by the time you've worked out how to do it properly, you're dead and gone!
Speak for yourself!

Actually, there is a way of getting spirits without using a still. You freeze the raw booze at about -20C until ice forms and then siphon off the liquid. Do this a few times and you get a pretty potent and concentrated spirit.

I've tried scrumpy done in this way, then aged for a couple of years and it was an experience! It's known as applejack and is definitely a drink for clearing out the cobwebs...

Well, I'm with Millie and Nev.

But the way I see it, real GOOD pissheads need mates like us!

Ya can't party hard without mates that are willing to help you navigate the exit sign, carpark, and drive the car, and tell ya where you live when you insist it's right at the lights...

Best ya'll sing out next time there's a live band warming up!
