Limeflower Summer drink

Post: # 25036Post Hillbilly »

For those with no access to Elderflowers for that classic summer drink Elderflower cordial, limeflowers make a gorgeously yummy alternative. very good for you too - anything from easing sinusitis to insomnia to high blood pressure to overtired kids.

Lime trees are easy to spot on a sunny day, they appear to be almost glowing. They have heart shaped leaves.

Take one handful of fresh flowers and bash about a bit with mortar and pestle. Put the bashed flowers in a teapot and fill with one mug boiling water. Leave to cool and do its stuff overnight.

Drink.

If you dry the limeflowers and mix with dried lavender and use in your pillow it also can help those who have problems dropping off.

That sounds good, will try that if I can find some flowers - bit thin on the ground around here, though.

I've got lots of lime trees! Might try that next year - flowering finished here.
