Weight Loss Food

Post: # 250800Post Durgan »

Three months or about two pound per week is enough of a weight loss. I lost 21 pounds from 210 to about 189, and kept it off. This in about three to four months.

First I quit buying sugar and don’t eat any desserts, except berries with skim milk. Best to avoid if possible. It was not difficult for me, since I seldom ate desserts, but used sugar on everything.

Then change your diet completely. Here is how I do it.

My Juicer. Believe it or not I got mine for nothing. My son brought it to me from a friend who didn’t use it. At first I was not impressed, since I had a centrifugal juicer years past and found it such a misery to clean that I gave it away, also it didn’t leave enough of the microscopic fibre.

These units have to be heavy. I keep mine on a table in the dining room and move it into place in the kitchen as required. The Champion appears to be indestructible, and does a marvellous job, and is easy to clean. I am finding more uses for it as I get more experience.

Usually depending upon the product I cook the product and beat it into a mash http://www.durgan.org/URL/?AJMWT Canadian Tire, then strain http://www.durgan.org/URL/?CPBLL, then put the residue from the strainer through the juicer, not always depends upon the produce. Then if there is enough I pressure can for storage, otherwise it is put in the refrigerator for immediate use. With experience, I have ascertained that one can preserve almost any fruit and vegetable, only limited by the availability and imagination.

For making juice raw, I simply beat the product into a juice in the blender.I use whatever is available. You get all the fibre this way. This is a raw product, but I feel a lot must be lost digesting, but at least one can ingest a lot of fresh produce. It will keep in the refrigerator if sealed for about 8 days. I prefer the cooked and strained or a combination of both.

I might add making these products a portion of your diet, weight control is easy and weight loss is relatively rapid at first even without noticing, since appetite is reduced. And certainly one is getting all the necessary nutrients. My view is there is no sense losing weight by dieting and still eating the same food that made one heavy. Further there are few people in our modern society, who do not have a weight problem.

I do eat some normal food periodically in reduced proportions and on festive occasions. When sort of hungry, simply have a glass of juice, mix in a glass if necessary to improve flavour if this is a big issue with you. I am full of energy and very active. More so, after losing the weight.

Anybody can lose weight the crux of the matter is keeping it off.

My food intake is always carefully watched without being obnoxious to those
around me. It is a constant effort and cannot be relaxed.

I am using various methods of divorcing myself from the Commercial Food Supply, which
I view as slowly killing people in most of the Western countries, as evidenced by the by the obesity figures.

First I consider sugar in all its guises to be poison. i don't have any in
my house. i consider the elimination of sugar to be the first item to be
removed from anybody on a weight loss program or weight maintenance
program. It seems self-defeating to me to lose weight by only portion control, and
still ingest the same food that made one heavy.

looking at those graphs you posted, im sure the figures would be incredibly high if they counted ALL the overweight people and not just the obese ones. im positive there would be more over weight people than normal weight people. it is a major health crisis, but as long as they are still pumping out junk food people are going to eat it and get fat.

out of date spring rolls are good for weight loss! Worked for me

One problem is not what people eat but why they eat it

http://www.durgan.org/URL/?XUUJE The Cure for Everything! Untangling the Twisted Messages About Health, Fitness and Happiness
By Timothy Caulfield

To read Timothy Caulfield’s The Cure for Everything! is to wonder how we are not all waddling around at 350 pounds, out-of-shape and sickly. Caulfield, an Edmonton-based health law professor, documents the alarming ways the simple truth about what makes us healthy is distorted by interest groups, from Big Food to Big Pharma, who unduly complicate our relationship with food and fitness.

But Caulfield, the Canada Research Chair in Health Law and Policy, is no scaremongering skeptic: His cure for the mess we’re in is this lucid and well-researched compendium of the best-available science about diet, fitness, genetics, pharmaceuticals and alternative medicine. In other words, it’s a kind of diet book for the evidence nerd.

i agree with juzamum,

loosing weight is not rocket science. we all know to eat lots of plant foods, limit meat and dairy intake and stay away from junk food.
you dont need any books, pills, superfoods or any of that alternative mumbo jumbo.just eat less. its simple.

the real issue is a psychological one that is driving us to binge on junk and get fat.

me for example, iv struggled with an eating disorder since i was about 16 and its gotten progressively worse as iv got older and had kids. i have issues with binging, dieting and body image which sounds really vain, but im not the kind of girl whos into make up and fashion or anything like that. but i really fell like if i cant look at myself and feel good and love myself then how can anyone else. even though my husband tries to reassure me on a daily basis i dont believe him, of course hes going to say i look fine, when i know damn well im not.
anyway, my point is, there is usually underlying psychological issues that drive people to binge on high carb, high sugar foods which give that instant, but not lasting, satisfaction. for that one moment you get those endorphin driven good feelings which make all the worries of the day melt away.

Well, we can add condescending to the list then can we!

My point is obvious, your little " look how clever I am and not like all you stupid fatties who eat food" point is a nonsence.

Your view that somehow your juicing is the answer to the worlds obesity problem is simplistic at best, and just plain naive at worst.

Add that to the type of vocabulary you use to describe it and you come across as frankly a bit limited in the Social Skills department.

i.e. Self Rightous and un-empathetic.

Does that clarify things sufficiently? I do hope so, I would hate you to think I had said something without thinking it through, that my opinion in this regard is somehow unsupported by my own intelligent thought processes, and in someway I was not refelcting MY point of view on your OPINION. Which is what you verbously challenged me to have done.

I hope that clears that up, and that you will just try and tone down your frankly unharmonious/challenging comments, which I believe is against some forum rule or another.

But keep posting the pictures, they are really interesting, and believe me I like what you are doing, but seriously you need to chill out on certain subject matters close to your heart, and appreciate that what ever you think people can have an alternate view and not be stupid.....

Thanks

I'm not sure this is any worse than Durgan's usual posts, Boboff. Perhaps you're a bit sensitive about the topic of weight loss?

I've noticed other people who've had success with a particular (generally extreme or unusual) weight loss regime can get a bit evangelical about it.
