As this thread's been revived...Odsox wrote:I've also got a recipe for Rich Tea biscuits that I devised from reading the ingredients off a packet.
They also disappear remarkably quickly for plain biscuits.
Any chance you could share that recipe?

No problem ....
10 oz flour
3 oz sugar
3 fl oz oil
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
2 fl oz water
Dissolve the sugar in the water (hot)
Mix all dry ingredients and then combine with oil and sugar syrup to make a pliable dough
Roll out very thinly, cut into circles, prick with a fork and glaze with milk.
Bake at gas 5, 180c for about 15 mins

Re: Oat Biscuits
Out of interest, I tried to use the above recipe to make Butter Osbornes which for some strange reason they no longer make.
I substituted butter for the oil and rubbed it in, it worked (sort of) but not what I remember Osbornes tasting like.
More work needed.

Looks like this is from one year ago, today!Green Aura wrote:Here you go Tony - I fear these won't keep very well either!![]()
3 ½ oz butter
2 ½ oz demerara sugar
pinch salt
2 oz self raising flour
4 oz oats
1 bar plain chocolate
Cream butter and sugar.
Knead in a pinch of salt, self raising flour and oats.
Put heaped teaspoonfuls of the mixture onto a greased baking tray and press them down into a biscuit shape.
Cook at gas mark 4 until just about to go brown (about 7 mins).
Cool the biscuits on a wire tray, then cover them with melted chocolate.
Leave the coated biscuits for an hour or so until the chocolate has set.
Of course you don't have to use chocolate but.......I can't think how to finish this sentence![]()

I REALLY want to try these~ I think my husband will love them!
Re: Oat Biscuits
Alright, I just made these. At first I thought that maybe they were a bit too chewy because I used a spread instead of real butter, but they cooled and are now perfect...and now I am thinking that real butter might have made them too crispy and these are crunchy, the way I like them. I only got about 10 biscuits so I have a second batch in the oven now. A very good recipe~Green Aura wrote:Here you go Tony - I fear these won't keep very well either!![]()
