Quite. I mean, me & Kylie go back years. But I do like cool stuff too (or I pretend to) and my middle daughter (age 11) has started loading up her iPod with all kinds of stuff from my collection and I am on course to be pronounced the coolest dad in her school, which is cool.

This evening I am mostly listening to The Icicle Works, That Petrol Emotion & The Psychedelic Furs. It's 80s night. Black Forest Gateau, the lot.

I try and keep to stuff my girls like too. Our favourite YouTube vids are Raise Your Glass Cosplay lip dub, Geek and Gamer Girls. The Princess Who Saved Herself by Jonathon Coulton.

Jonathon Coulton rocks! Love him.

We also listen to They Might Be Giants a lot, especially the Here Comes Science album.

Personally, some of my favourites are Zebda, Mano Negra/Manu Chao, Regina Spektor, Mumford and Sons.

Ah yes, Mano Negra. Very, very, good and completely insane live.

Anyway, Icicle Works, made no. 52 in the Hit Parade, which just goes to show how poor peoples' taste is. Terrible video, mind:

This is im all time favorate album. The whole album is one piece of music, each song merging into the next. It's a fantastic piece of music, but probably not to everyones' taste. I love the way the music morphs from being all electronic sounding like you're inside technology, and into natural sounds of animals and rainfall and so on. I'v had many amazing times listening to this album, its brings back memmories :drunken:

Strangley I saw a live link from The future sound of London at a festival outside Brighton about 15 years ago, they were very good,808 State were even better, and Supergrass(whom I knew at the time) were headlining.

I've been lucky to live through some good musical times...I saw Jethro Tull and Zepplin on the same bill in about ' 68 and the ticket was 15 shillings!(I've still got it!). I was a bit old (mid to late 20's) for the Punks, but sawthe Pistols live at the Vine club in Newport, and most of the others,X-Ray Spex were especially good, and of course,Ian Dury(last time in Waterford not long before he died).Ido like some contemporary stuff but I despise Cold Play.
But really ,for me ,it's all about the Blues...Memphis Minnie,John Lee Hooker et al.

[ Now how self-indulgent was that?]

Gah! Future Sound of London made me think of DJ Shadow. I don't suppose anyone can remember what the TV series was called that was presented by the vicar guy that was about aliens, UFOs etc that featured some of DJ Shadow's music was called?

Edit!! Of course I remember now I've pressed submit. It was Fortean TV with Rev Lionel Fanthorpe.
