Bubblewrap - only one so far ....

But what can I do with bubblewrap? I was going to offer it to a charity shop - has anyone got better ideas?

5. Line terra cotta pots with it. Said to cut down water loss in summer and insulate roots in winter.

7. Punnets of fruit are often lined with bubble wrap so you could put some in the the bottom of your box or trug when gathering fruit from the garden.

I'll admit this isn't a brilliant idea but it worked up to a point.
Years ago I was camping and it was pretty cold and I happened to find some bubble wrap and so folded it to form a kind of mattress to sleep on. As I said it only worked to a point because over a couple of nights the air was gone from the bubbles , which makes me sound as if I weight a ton but no just normal build.
As it is most of the bubble wrap we have is used by my wife for her e-bay activaties.If you want to get rid of it try freecycle or if you have a roll of the stuff you can even e-bay it.

Know what, sometimes you can drive yourself half mad wondering what to do with stuff that arrives that you didn't ask for. When I had loads of bits of bubblewrap, I took all to the charity shop where they were really very happy to have it as they were always running out.

Just thought, does anyone remember the episode of Red Dwarf where someone takes a small sheet of bubblewrap, paints it red with the words "tension sheet" on it and sells it as a stress reliever and in the process becomes exceedingly rich?

9? Stitch it to the lining of your curtains for insulation
10. Use it to insulate your giant African land snails tank during winter (maybe that's just me!)
11. Use it as an extra layer of insulation on your windows during winter
12. Give a square of it to your OH to keep them out of the way when you need 5 minutes peace
13. Insulate the chicken shed (there is an insulation theme here )
14. Store it in a large cardboard box in the attic so that you always have some incase of emergency wrapping/insluation
15. Use it either popped or un-popped in textile pieces to create interesting texture
16. Cut it into strips to use as punky hair falls
17. Cut it into thin strips (popped) and use it as a core to sew lengths of interesting cord, either with a machine or using thicker threads by hand
18. Pop it, tear it up into smaller pieces and use it to stuff teddy bears and other items that you don't mind rustling a bit
19. Halloween costume- the bubblewrap mummy (probably one for students )
20. Cut it into lengths, spray paint silver, gold or another colour of your choice (glitter is also encouraged!) and use it as an xmas decoration

Die hard selfsufficienters making their own clothes can use it as a lining for when they're down at the allotment.
