Ish in Bulgaria

Post: # 270461Post KGB »

Hi all,
Just thought we'd say "hi".
We are a couple living the ish lifestyle near Sofia. We have been here about a year and a half. Have raised and slaughtered our first pigs and are currently surviving the snow with all the stuff we grew in the summer
We look forward to speaking with you all and using this brilliant site.

hello K and T, welcome. I'm not so far from you. We haven't had much snow down this way and it's been so mild i 've been in the garden over xmas. we've got a large garden and grow a range of the usual and have stacks of mature fruit and nut trees.
what did you grow this summer and what livestock have you got?

Hi there and welcome
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

Hi all,
Thank you for your welcome.
We keep pigs, ducks, chickens and a random selection of dogs and cats, the mainstay of which are our fox terriers. We also have 3 sheep who live with a local shepherd and dairyman. We were fortunate enough to inherit some mature fruit trees which provide us all.
We have some good friends here who have shown us how to make wine and rakia.
We are up at 1000meters so in winter it gets pretty snowy and all thoughts of work are now on hold until at least April.
We are hoping to become even more ishish in the coming months, our biggest hope is to beat off the Mafia which is Chez (our energy supplier) and we are very keen on reading up on how to lessen our reliance on electricity!
A goat is also on the cards as we are surrounded by free grazing!

Hi there  We live close by too, in Prilep in Macedonia. We got back here in February after being in the UK to have our latest little one, so this was the first year we were here properly doing it. We've got 2 acres of land consisting of mixed fruit and nut trees and an acre field. Don't have animals yet, apart from the dog, we were ready for the chickens but didn't get the chicks we were looking for and it was a bit chaotic in the orchard trying to harvest everything so the chickens got put off. Maybe in the spring.
It's been really mild here so far, we had a really hot and long summer and it's only snowed a couple of day in the beginning of December when is got down to -17 at night for a week or so. Now it's all melted ard really mild again. We were walking the dog on new years eve just up from our land and it's lovely and sunny again :santa:
