Hello from Yorkshire

We love hearing from you, so here is your chance. Introduce yourself and tell us what makes you selfsufficient 'ish'. Go on don't be shy, we welcome one and all. You can also tell us how you heard about us if you like.

Hello from Yorkshire

Post: # 270713Post Hestia »

Hi, I used to be a member of this forum a few years ago but I have lost my old log in details so I have had to join again. I never contributed very much because life got in the way but I have a bit more time now and I hope to be more active on here, I love this site.

We keep bees and a few chickens for eggs and I try to make grow as much as I can. This year we have been self sufficient in beetroot, cabbage, parsnips and leeks but precious little else. Years like this make me very thankful that I am able to visit the shops though.

I live on the outskirts of Sheffield, on a windy hill, which poses it's own problems. We have had broad beans completely ripped out of the ground after we tried an Autumn sowing but it's not all bad, flooding is not an issue and for that I am very thankful.

Hi there and welcome  We are heading your way tomorrow!
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!
