Butterfly

Post: # 275168Post daffodiltulip »

I saw a type of butterfly I'd never seen before - it was quite small and a blue-green (or green-blue) colour - does anyone know what it's called?

It's the Small Blue Green, called the Small Green Blue in some backward rural areas

We always call it the small Green Blue where I am, there is no batter here in NW Ireland, but it is often deep fried and served with a guinness as an alternative to tato crisps

Have a look at pictures of the Green Hairstreak. Likes places with Bilberry, heathers, etc. Here's a shot I took a couple of years ago: http://donegal-wildlife.blogspot.ie/sea ... Hairstreak

It was that type of shade, although I don't recall exactly now as it was a while ago. I'll pay more attention if I see one again.
