savory - summer or winter?

I've had a savory plant growing in my garden for years. These days I find little offspring everywhere, and like to offer them on Freecycle, along with strawberry plants, marjoram, parsley, limnanthes etc. etc.
How can I find out whether my savory is a summer or a winter one? Admittedly it has stood many winters, but according to the pictures it looks more like a summer version. The leaves are not very tough. Can summer savory stand for years, here in the mild South=West?

I'm fairly certain that summer savory is an annual, so if you've had the same plant for years it'll be winter.

What GA said. Plus, there's a good test. Summer savory is reputed to be an aphrodisiac, whereas winter savory is said to have the opposite effect. So eat a handful of it and see how you feel

Blimey, never knew that - I have lots of summer savory in the garden... Never noticed any effect, though. Probably need to eat more of it!
