Telly radio
I used to be able to hear the radio on the tv channels - now I can't - it says "no signal" with an exclamation mark in a yellow triangle.
I can watch the telly. What went wrong and what can I do to get the radio stations back? It's a Sony Bravia.

Re: Telly radio
I switch it on and I switch it off - I haven't done anything else with it. I'll have a go at the re-tuning. Thanks.

I love freeview. I do not understand paying monthly subs for something I hardly watch.

I have Freesat, love it, I can get all my favourite programmes from the uk for free and listen to the radio if I want, I cannot understand people paying 60-80 euro for Sky

Re: Telly radio
I never really understood that either - exactly how much telly can someone watch that they need more channels and how important can they be that they feel that have to pay for them rather than make the most of all the free ones? Anyway, I'm satisfied with the selection that Freeview has to offer. I did quite enjoy a temporary channel (turns out it was something of a spacesaver) called BonanzaBonanza - it was showing old television programmes like the Beverly Hillbillies, I Love Lucy and so on. Unfortunately, they've removed it now.
Having remembered that, I quickly looked it up again and found this http://www.digitaltveurope.net/242782/b ... in-the-uk/ it doesn't say which number it's on though!

Oh I'm so with you on that if you are talking Six Music.
Anyway - what is this telly of which you talk? I've not had one for 50 years.

Re: Telly radio
I'm afraid there are folk like us, dt. We have the basic package of Sky +, simply so my mother can have the TV on (via a second box) all day. In fairness she is nearly 90 and not very mobile, so telly is her window on the world. I now know all about all those poor little animals in Australia, the man who flies all over the world to make beautiful music and despite living in an area of damn near zero crime, she jumps, thinking someone's trying to murder her every time someone enters the room (and sleeps with her walking stick next to the bed - just in case). It's not difficult to work out which programme she's been watching at any given time.daffodiltulip wrote:exactly how much telly can someone watch that they need more channels and how important can they be that they feel that have to pay for them rather than make the most of all the free ones

We do watch the TV, but increasingly rarely and at the first opportunity will ditch it for Freesat - in the meantime, any questions you've got about Criminal Minds or Andre Rieu(?) (I know someone who knows all the answers).

Re: Telly radio
We subscribed to Sky when we first moved here as it was the only way to get the UK channels, but when Freesat started Sky was soon ditched. I could never stomach Sky, just about every program was American and the American advert slots were filled with incessant Sky promos to get round the UK per hour advert limit.
Mind you, it took cancelling the direct debit to convince them we really, really did want to cancel our subscription.

I'll bear that in mind when the time comes.

Re: Telly radio
Oh you won't get rid of them that easily.
This was after the year's subscription they offer at half price, so it took well over a year to get shot of them. Then it took almost an hour of a female in Fife (they rang us) trying to persuade us to change our mind after we cancelled the DD.
Never mind, it is all a distant memory now.

Re: Telly radio
My biggest problem is not Sky (I never thought I'd think paying to Murdoch would be less problematic than anything!) but the BBC. I find their coverage of events, these days to be so "party line" that I can't bring myself to watch their news coverage at all.
However, I can't seem to wean myself off University Challenge and Only Connect
(Good job we get a free TV licence due to ageing Ma - I'm sure I couldn't bring myself to pay it these days!)
