Cone technique - no dig

Post: # 283555Post dave45 »

Many moons ago (pre-internet) I borrowed a library book that expounded a technique for growing veggies on any ground whatsoever.

AIRI it involved no digging at all. Instead it used a metal rod that you bashed into the ground and rotated to make a cone-shaped hole. You filled it with some copyright compost mixture plus a seed/seedling and left it alone.... eventually the cones and compost would take over your garden and bring forth multitudinous good stuff. ....

I've always remembered it but never given it a go ... is it worth a try? is my memory faulty?

That sounds like something John Yeoman would have expounded in a book called the Lazy Kitchen Gardener, I lent my copy to Doofaloofa
