Something on parsley

I can see some very small, oval, white, hairy caterpillar type things on my outdoor potted parsley plant. Can anyone tell me what they could be? I don't recall ever having seen them before.

Something very much like that, but I always thought mealy bugs were more scale-like and more fuzzy, whereas these have a longer fur. Underneath it's a plain light brown colour and they move at a good pace. I've never noticed them before so why have they suddenly appeared on the parsley?
