Apparently we're naming our storms now, a la the USA.

Anyway we appear to be directly in its path plus there is some disagreement over whether this will be followed by heavy snow at the weekend. All of which (assuming any of it is as bad as they're predicting) means it could be a few days before they can fix stuff. So if I'm not around for a while you'll know we've been cut off.

Red Cross parcels will be gratefully received.

And keep your fingers crossed for my polytunnel, which suffered quite badly in the January (nameless) storm.

Good luck Maggie.
It was a bit rough down here for 2 or 3 hours, but it has died down now to a mere gale.
Not that we had anything like you have forecast.

Snow ... I think you have probably been reading the doom and gloom tabloids
Briefly on the mountains I believe is the official forecast
See you on the other side ......

The weather is mad here, been blowing all day, so far no real problems, the electricity seems to be quite stable, internet wobbly but that is normal. The weather warning is in place until 5am tomorrow morning I think

Bit windy here - but then, we are on the east coast.

How will the Red Cross parcels get through if you are cut off? :?

Just hold it out of the window, ina, it'll blow here by itself. Well I think dnd will have to do that - yours would end up in Germany or somewhere over that way.

I'd forgotten that we now name storms and wondered what you were talking about! It'll take some time to get used to the new system and will make no difference to the weather.

Well, it would appear our usual November storms are being named. After the storm in January which, frankly, terrified us we were worried what Abigail would bring. Nowt much it would appear. I don't know how elsewhere has fared.

However there has been a dramatic drop in the temperature so I won't entirely rule out the prospect of snow!

First snow been seen in this area today, a few miles inland, though. We hardly ever get any on the coast. (At least up to now...)

Yes, it's mainly on the higher ground, as Odsox said it would be (clever boy). Still pretty chilly though.

Yes and it seems that Barney is another windy person

Hope that no-one is blown off course and out of communication with this one.

And whoever the last one was, the river got out this weekend. It's been interesting locally - though the pictures don't show it because no-one from the village sent any into the local paper, we did get the village allotments flooded and a closed road for a period (no houses though). I'm glad my allotments are out of the village and up the big hill where the floods don't reach.
