Re-introducing myself

We love hearing from you, so here is your chance. Introduce yourself and tell us what makes you selfsufficient 'ish'. Go on don't be shy, we welcome one and all. You can also tell us how you heard about us if you like.

Re-introducing myself

Post: # 287842Post KathyLauren »

I am not new here, but I have a new identity. You have known me as KeithBC.

As you can guess from my new username, I am making a major change in my life. I have (finally!) figured out that I am transgender, and am in the process of becoming the woman that I always should have been. Trust me, it is a lot easier to do on the Internet than it is in real life! Whereas the online process was a matter of a request and a few minutes, I figure that the real-life process will take a couple of years. There are lots of hoops to jump through, designed mostly to protect doctors from getting sued.

It is an exciting time for me, and I am lucky to have a wife whose level of understanding and support borders on sainthood. At age 61, I have left it a bit later than most. But better late than never. I figure my best years lie ahead of me.

Kathy.

Wow. Big change indeed. I'm not sure how to react - it won't make much difference to me, your opinion retains the same value irrespective of gender :)

Welcome and good luck!

Hi Kathy
Welcome back and congratulations/good luck (I'm not sure what is the most appropriate greeting). You're extremely brave and I do hope it all goes well for you. :grouphug:

I feel quite humbled that you've shared this with us, Kathy. I know a picture and a name on a forum can be easy things to hide behind. It's brilliant that you've found out who you are and what you want - I'm sure many folk never figure that out. I hope it's not too difficult a process (but it sounds like you've got plenty of support). We're here for you too.

All the best and here's to a great future. :hugish:

(I was going to say keep us up to date but I'm not sure if that's right or not, but you can if you want).

Well, keeping you all totally up to date might be TMI. But I plan to stick around here and discuss anything ish-y in my life.

Hi Kathy,

Nice to 're-meet' you! Not sure if 'well done' is the right thing to say either, but anyway well done for having the guts to be who you really are - very inspiring indeed.

Hi Kathy,
I recently logged in here for the first time in 4 years, I kind of forgot about this place. I'm glad to see you're still here, you've given me plenty of good advice in the past.
Good Luck in your new endeavors, I can only assume they'll be challenging...but hopefully be delightful as well.
Jon
