Does anyone know of a link please that shows exactly what can and cant go into a compost heap please? How long will rose bushes take to compost down? Be nice to run your fingers thru your own compost and get stuck by all those thorns eh?

AAARRGGGHHHH!!
I have the (un)fortunate pleasure of living 50 yards from my parents and as such share the grounds and veg patch. Imagine my disgust yesterday when Ive gone to check out the compost heap ready to use some of our own lovely stuff, the things that my parents have thrown in there cos theyre 'cant be arsed' to do it properly!! Theres ten tons of fag butts (personal niggle as I no longer smoke!), tiles, bin bags, rose bushes, hazel and pretty much every type of wood that has once been a bush or tree. Ive told them so many times that wood and rose bushes shouldnt go in there but theyre obviously not bothered. My hubby and I created another bin and told them its gonna be done properly this time. Ive just seen my Mum outside with a wheelbarrow load of weeds and rose bushes - she asks if the new bin will be mine now and she can dump this stuff in the old one. I quite angrily told her no, its gonna take years to compost down with the rubbish in there that theyve put. Theres a pile for the wood etc that gets burnt - whats the hardship in spending a little time in thought and care??? Mind u, theyre attitude is pretty lousy when it comes to recycling too saying that theyre too old to worry about whats gonna happen in my sons lifetime - aaarrrggghhh

I know that this is a little off the subject but it looked like a good place to vent my anger...
My mum had recently bought a solar powered fountain, which I complimented, however it wasn't very powerful and within 6 months it was put in the wheelie???? and her husband replced it with two seperate, bigger, freestanding mains powered fountains
They insist on having them on when visitors are their including me, it makes me MAD.
My sister, leaves her central heating on all the time... even when she also has the windows and the back door open!!!!
My brother is insisting that 25 members of my family plus his friends fly out to spain for his wedding and there is apparently no "for environmental reasons" get out clause.
When I ask around my family if anyone wants large items of furnature, eletrical items, unused paint etc. they all just say why don't you just put it out for the bin-men
Anyway just needed to vent... anyone else?
