New reliable server

Post: # 46505Post Andy Hamilton »

We will be moving server very soon. We have battled with this one for too much and they simply are not giving us the service that we need for this forum. It will be most likely at some time between next week and mid February. It has been a frustrating time with the site sporadically going down and thanks for sticking with us despite this problem.

We also have another very big announcement to come very soon, something that we have been working on behind the scenes for some time.......

Good news about the server - I'm sure we're all big enough and ugly enough can all cope with a bit of buggeration from time to time though :->.

I'll await the BIG announcement with anticipation - I wonder what it could be  LOL

Good to hear that it is still your homepage.

Another bit of down time today, the move is getting more and more urgent. When it does happen there will be the same trouble as before, ie two days of possible down time then back up. I will do what I can to keep distruption to a minimum. I will also give about a weeks notice before the switch. Hoping that it will be in a about a fortnight.

Right then the move should be in the next 10 days - 2 weeks.

If every thing goes according to plan then we should make the move next weekend - 2nd March. For thoses old enough (in selfsufficientish member terms) to remember the last move it mean a couple of days that were quite confusing. Without boring you with the technical details there was a little bit of time that the forum lived in two spaces. I shall make a bigger announcement in the week - next week - and ensure that there is a big note on the new forum to minimise confusion.

DOn't know about you but I am confused already. :?

Don't worry Andy, I understand perfectly!

What he means is, that whilst the forum is off the air, there will be a temp 'forum' available for us to post on (although those posts probably will be lost when the new server starts up and the forum starts again).

It's just for anyone who is bored and missing their SSish mates!
