Bad news

Sorry i havent been around of late.
My dad passed away two weeks ago today due to a sudden heart attack.
He was one of the fittest men i knew and had only just turned 52 at new year.
As you can imagine things have been quite difficult of late and his passing has left a very big hole in my and many others lifes.
My dad owned woodland and taught me many crafts and passed on a lot of knowledge he will be sorely missed but i aim to continue learning crafts/skills and pass them onto my daughter.


To the person i still owe a secret santa present to i am very sorry i havent sent you anything yet and i do intend to honour my promise but if you could wqait a small while longer i would be greatfull as so many things need sorting at the moment i havent even time to get out into the garden.

I truly believe that people really only die if they are forgotten about, if we think of them often, speak of them fondly and share what they taught us with others they are never far away or truly lost to us.

The novelist Elizabeth Goudge once wrote about love surviving death. In essence she illustrated it this way:-

A professional sailor in days of old leaves his beloved wife and adored children and sails away on what may be a long voyage. He loves them deeply, they love him equally.

Two days out of port, he dies in a tragic accident and the ship cannot return to home port. His wife and family continue to think of him, write to him, pray for his wellbeing, and love him. Only we know that he is not there to receive the love.

Is, then, the love dead?

I think not - I believe that love survives death and would most heartily agree with Milims that love only dies if the loved one is forgotten.

yes I think this too. and the memories can be helped along by lots of things. I have my grandfathers gardening tools - he was a serious allotmenteer - and I always smile and think of him when i get his sharp old spade out. and how he would be telling me how I am doing it all wrong.

Thanks for all your kind words they mean a lot to me.
