Thank you for your well wishes and positive vibes :)

Unfortunately the thieves took it upon themselves to come back the second night. They tried the back door, then the front and then punched the front door when they realised the locks had been changed and couldn't get in. Frightening my kids even more.

We now have no car as it has been taken away to get the locks changed and the bank won't let me have any cash out because I need 2 forms of primary ID (such as a photocard, work ID, passport and driving licence) and seeing as my driving licence was stolen in my bag, and I don't have a photo card or work ID it has all been a bot of a nightmare.

It may not have been sentimental things that were taken but we have had 2 days of hell trying to sort it all out. Even small replaceable things like credit and debit cards, handbags etc are still not nice to be taken especially when you were in the house at the time. I also had money taken so it's not all that easy.

Still, onwards and upwards as they say!

Oh Sal - thats unbelieveable!!! I feel so sorry for you all-its a nightmare. All I can say is keep your chin up chucky and remember - when you come to the end of your rope - tie a knot in it and hang on!!
Chris has said that maybe a personal attack alarm may help as well as additional bolts and hinge bolts (hes a joiner and knows that kind of stuff!!)
Good luck and peaceful thoughts

The police have closed the case so nowt is going to happen now about trying to catch the people who did it :( But we all had a good nights sleep last night and are feeling better and more positive for it.

Oh Sal, sorry I am so slow coming in on this... That just plain sucks!!

Heaps glad to hear you are at the other end of it now, and are feeling better about things again.

Sorry to hear about that, it is an awful thing to have to go through.

Have you thought of getting a dog? Burglars tend to be fairly low-grade criminals and are usually after money for drugs, so they go for the easy targets. The fact that they were stupid enough to punch the front door and wake everyone up demonstrates that they're not exactly criminal masterminds and will one day slip up and be caught. Take solice in that.

Though the Police are overwhelmed by this sort of thing and genuinely don't have the resource to go after them, it's worth getting the crime prevention officer round to look the place over and help prevent this sort of thing happening again.

Although the case is "closed" they do look for patterns that emerge from burglaries, because it is usually down to one or two people in an area. The chances of them being eventually caught are fairly good.

Sorry, been a bit slow as well...

Sorry, to hear that your house was burgled. My place was done over a few years ago and I couldn't sleep there that night, the feeling of invasion was too much.
