Reporting Spam

Post: # 54809Post Andy Hamilton »

If anyone wants to report any spam please feel free to do so in the Dreaded spam section at the bottom of the forum in the compost bin section. The next available moderator or administrator will delete it as soon as they can.

Cheers
:andy: and all the Admin and mods.

Thanks, Andy - was wondering what to do when I saw that lot yesterday!

So do the moderators go to the spam section before anywhere else? Wouldn't they just come across the spam as they are reading the other forums, like us mortals? Just wondering...

I just had a look who of the mods was online - at that time of the night it was Wombat, of course - and sent him a pm...

I always look at 'posts since last visit' and if a spammer has started a new thread, I'll see them straight away, as their names are pretty obvious.

If they add spam to an existing thread, it might well get lost in amongst other postings, so that would be when it would be a good idea to mention it in the Dreaded Spam section.

Speaking personally, of course! I don't know how the others operate in that respect.

I log in a few times a day if I can and look for the new posts and click on the ones with names I don't recognise. I will check the spam section every time I log on for now to make sure we are on top of it.

Just a quick addage to this to say that we have now set up a vetting procedure for all new members. The spammers seem to join with a new member name each time so we hope this will put a stop to the nasty images that have been posted recently.
