Top 5 favourite programmes of all time
hmm a difficult one this one as it keeps changing.
Would have to say in no particular order.
1. Friday/Saturday night Live. - The UK version that was on TV in the 80's. It was at a time when alternative comedy was at its best. Despite not being the greatest fan of some of the people who were on it now (well Ben Elton) at the time it was really funny.
2. Ray Mears bushcraft.
3. The good life
4. Grand designs - Would not have been in the top 5 last year, I think this is a transitory one.
5. Q.E.D. another old program from the 80's. It wasn't just informative it was entertaining.
bubbling under - peep show, tomorrows world.

Well, my number one would definitely be Bagpuss. After that it gets a bit harder to choose. Doubtless if I wrote the list yesterday or tomorrow it would be slightly, if not completely, different. At the moment, however, my list will go as follows:
1. Bagpuss [especially the classic episode with the mouse mill]
2. Firefly [sadly only one series, axed mid-season, but excellent SF nonetheless. NB this was the precursor to the film <i>Serenity</i>]
3. Red Dwarf [particularly the earlier seasons]
4. Babylon 5
5. Blackadder [season 2 is my favourite, although I think season 4 was by far the best for combining humour with some serious points]
Other close contenders included Dr Who (especially the "classic" series), the Flumps, Monty Python's Flying Circus and Fawlty Towers. I also quite enjoyed the Good Life, although I haven't seen it for years.
- Magnus
PS I don't have a telly, which may explain why there's little in the way of recent TV shows on my list. Or it could just be that they don't make TV like they used to.

1. Blakes 7 - I cried when the first series ended but then I was only about 9! I did have the whole series on video but the ex got that in the separation settlement.
2. Grand Designs - but that would fall out of favour if Kevin McCloud stopped presenting it.
3. BBC breakfast news. I can't get going in the morning without it.
4. Gardeners World - but I don't panic if I miss it.
I did used to watch Ground Force and Changing Rooms but I haven't really missed them since they went off air.
I can't really think of any more. I just tend to watch what's on for 5 minutes then get bored and find something else to do or fall asleep. I certainly don't bother recording anything if I'm not going to be in to see it.

Oh I forgot Dr Who, I never miss an episode.
Did you know that Blakes 7 is being remade at the moment?

I don't know that much about it, I saw it on News 24 the other day they just sort of mentioned in passing. Apparently after the success of Dr. who they want to keep with sci-fi and are going to spend a lot of money on this. I think that they are remaking the whole series rather than doing any writesThomzo wrote: Oh wow! Tell me more! But it won't be the same without the wobbly special effects and the piece of string the pulled the model liberator along!

Gadz this is a hard question. I don't really have a top five. Don't watch that much telly really.
Errmmm
1. The good life
2. the hairy bikers cook book
3. Ray Mears
4.
5.
Can't think of 4 and 5 but will think about it... I tend to like programmes that teach me something rather than soaps (irritating!!!!)

No, not really, there's a lot of bad TV around at the moment, I'd say top five also in no particular order.
1.Peep Show
2.Father Ted
3.Good old Ray Mears
4.Family Guy
5.Black Books
Five's a hard one, top three might be easier but most of those I could watch again and again. Futurama should be in there somewhere too and the Simpsons although that is starting to loose it's appeal a little.

1. University Challenge
It's about the only thing I'd go out of my way to watch. Sad but true. Also like, in no particular order:
2. Frasier
3. West Wing
4. Jewel in the Crown
5. The BBC Pride and Prejudice.
Top 5 radio programmes, though, now that is hard...

Oooohhhh - a hard one!
1 Butterflies - I thought recently how nice it would be to see it again now that I was "grown up" (allegedly), to see if I changed my opinion about it.
2 Antiques road show - came here once, I went with my x-mother-in-law who was very p****d off that my vase was worth lots more than her entire collection of plates - she was fuming!!!
3 Never mind the buzzcocks (the Mark Lamar one) - about the funniest programme on TV apart from who's Line is it Anyway
4 House/Shark (yeah I know thats 2 but its about all I watch on TV these days and I watch them back to back - so it counts as one sitting!)
5 QI/ that other quiz I caught once about the english language/grammar etc but don't know what it was called (OK I know thats two again but I can't remember the name of the other one so it doesn't count!)

Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!
