Two Itinerant Wombats
Two Itinerant Wombats
G'Day Gang!
While plans are in no way finalised, it seems likely that the lovely Mrs Wombat and I will be in England next May . So the question is............
is there anyone out there masochistic enough to be prepared to provide a night or two of lodging and perhaps a feed to two peripatetic wombats in return for their somewhat dubious company? (Well my company is dubious, Mrs Wombat is, of course, wonderful )
The Aussie dollar aint worth much over there but there is something I want to be part of happening and I need to go. No point turning up for a week or a few days so we will probably make something like a month of it. We want to see a bit of the country and spending time with other Ishers would be a wonderful bonus.
Soooooo..........................anyone game?

you are welcome here - have to warn you though - we are not exactly in the thick of things
and our house is falling down... and we are untidy...and only have an old sofa bed to offer....
but you are welcome for sure.

If you want to include Scotland in your itinerary, you'd be welcome here for a few days, a week, whatever... We even speak Aussie!Wombat wrote:G'Day Gang!

We're easy to get to by both plane (Aberdeen airport is an hour away by car) or rail (station two miles from here) or plane and train as there's a station near the airport.
We may even have a bed in the spare bedroom by then. At the moment, visitors have an air mattress that has to be re-inflated every night.
Thanks Red and Stoney!
Brilliant!
I will let everyone know once we have an idea of when things will be happening.

Can't offer you a bed, I'm afraid, and I certainly wouldn't suggest this town is worth visiting as a glowing example of British community life (apparently we've just topped the charts for a 'growing economy' in this town - ie. it's consumerist hell). But I would be prepared to travel distances to meet up with you again.

All you need now is a few in the middle of the country and you'll have done an (almost) national tour!!

Thanks Zoe!Thomzo wrote:Well you are more than welcome to come and stay in Swindon. Not that there is anything to see in Swindon itself but I am on the doorstep of the Cotswolds and only an hour and a bit from heathrow.
Zoe
An old friend (since passed on) was from the Cotswolds and now i think about it would be one of my "must see"s. It would be really great to meet up with you.
You too Fee. I am sure we will be able to arrange something!
I will have to sit down with a map and see where all you good folks are!
