I also have a triffid in my tunnel. I have a tomato plant that appeared in the middle of my sweetcorn patch, obviously from seed in the compost I spread on the bed.
Me being a softy I left it there, but it has now spread all over the place, roughly 64 sq ft and still going strong.
The problem is, the fruit tastes fantastic, so until I REALLY need the space it will remain, especially as it's loaded with fruit.
I've already saved seed from it before you ask.

Just in case you thought I was joking about my Triffid Tomato, here is a photo of it before it's exterminated
This was a small seedling that germinated from compost in the middle of my sweetcorn. I left it because I'm an old softy and quite like free food plants, but it has now aspirations of world domination.
All of the green foliage is a single cherry tomato plant.

Good heavens. Your compost must be very good, Odsox, it looks very healthy. I hope you got a good yield and not just all greenery!

I'm the same - I let things grow where they like, if possible. I think they know where they want to be, and that's why they are so strong! Had a monster broccoli this year. Slow developer, but enormous.

I still managed get to get a lost bowl of tomatoes this morning but I think the time has come to take the polytunnel down and clear the plants out.

I've now had my last kohlrabi - probably my favourite veg, and I never have enough of them. Still some courgette, although they are getting small and pale; some perpetual spinach, and beetroot. I don't do any pickling; neither vinegar nor sugar agree with me.

And leek! How could I forget that...

We've harvested our entire potato crop - sown at the start of lockdown when we weren't sure about food supplies. We didn't get a great harvest but not bad considering they were grown, from 3 supermarket spuds, in bags. I didn't weigh them but it was basically a bucketful. They're currently drying out on a large bath mat near the boiler.

Should do us for a few "special" meals - birthdays, Christmas etc.

First pick of sprouts this coming Sunday.
I have loads of them, mainly because there were absolutely no Cabbage White butterflies here at all this year. I don't know whether to be pleased or worried.
But the upshot is, I have 10 sprout plants, each nearly 6 feet tall, absolutely loaded with sprouts.

Triffids seem to be the order of the day/week/etc.

I have to confess to a sneaky liking for the newer "don't bite back" varieties. The ones that don't have the slightly burning, bitter aftertaste. Apparently it's a genetic thing though and, as OH doesn't have that trait and adores sprouts, he's not a reliable advisor, so I still tend to avoid them. I will, however, have my usual one sprout with my Christmas dinner.

We've just emptied the greenhouse and hosed it down. We got a bit of white fly in there so, after a cup of coffee, I'll light a fogger to get rid. Fingers crossed that it won't adversely affect the acrylic windows!

As I've been telling you for years (probably), you need to try freshly picked home grown sprouts.
Then they are really sweet and nutty, not the bitter nasty things you buy in supermarkets.
They are a bit like sweetcorn and peas, as in need to be cooked within minutes of being picked.

Another Triffid I've got is Oca. I thought I would try again now that low carb veg is more necessary. Well I planted 5 small tubers and they turned into a huge mound of foliage. Now I have to wait for it all to die down which I hope it will do without a frost.

I love oca plants - like oxalis. I hadn't realised they're lower carb though. Might have to revisit those.

Beetroot, turnip, parsnip, swede, leeks, sprouts, kale, PSB

Few spuds in storage; apples and pears as long as they keep; couple of pumpkins still in store

Not sure how long this lot will last but will keep picking till they run out. I mean it's nearly November and will soon be delving into the frozen stuff.

Won't be the sake next year with only one plot. But at least we are keeping the one with the fruit on it - that's the expensive stuff.

We're still getting blackberries, but that's about it. Having spent most of this year getting the infrastructure in place I'm hopeful that next year we might get to grow something

Much more hopeful than in the last few years when I thought we'd have to call it a day. Some of us are just slower to solve problems than others
