What are we all having for dinner?

You all seem to be such proficient chefs. Well here is a place to share some of that cooking knowledge. Or do you have a cooking problem? Ask away. Jams and chutneys go here too.

Ah venison, that old chestnut of the vegetarian diet. I hear venison is very deer these days. Are you having a bacon sarnie with it?

I would recommend such a diet to some.

Chicken breasts stuffed with the last of our stilton and wrapped in the out of date smoked bacon, served with baked spuds (Maris piper) and salad
Served in our elderly camper next to the Med in Spain....................and on our second bottle of wine :drunken:

We had homemade game soup, from a recipe I got online somewhere and soda bread.

A word of advice - the recipe called for a parsnip and port. Don't, just don't! I spent the last half hour it was cooking adding every sour or savoury thing in the kitchen to try and cut the sweetness! Having more or less succeeded it was very nice

I've decided to try Greenorelses nut roast. She's put that the temp to bake is gas mark 6, but my oven is electric, so I decided to look up on the web about the conversions - guess which conversion chart popped up first! I didn't even know there was one on here! What a useful site this is!

It was delicious! I did have to make some ammendments as I didn't have all the proper ingredients. I didn't have chopped nuts but I did have a bag of nuts in shells left from last christmas so I set too with my pump pliers and cracked them and chopped them. There wasn't enough so I added some dry roast peanuts - christmas again! I didn't have any mozzarella but I did have some reduced to clear boursin with black pepper. My step son, who doesn't actually like nuts, really enjoyed it too! There was more mixture than I could fit into my loaf tin so I put some into silicone bun cases and made small ones for our packed lunch tomorrow!
Thank you for that GOE!

Yes, I thought it was the best recipe for nut roast I've had in a long time. Different and very tasty.

No that's my fault, I think! When I was at Uni she often sat listening to all my friends often over copious alcohol, discussing deep philosophical topics and other assorted BS.

Does it hold together? Every time I have made a non meat loaf it is always very crumbly and pretty impossible to slice - tastes good but just easier to eat with a spoon than a knife and fork!

I'd like to try it but haven't got time to crack 200g of walnuts at the moment. So it won't be a 30 min dinner a la Jamie.
