Just planted First Early Potatoes (Rocket) and garlic on the allotment. We spent the last few visits getting the fruit in and trying to get most the spiraea billiardii out. It is a nice plant, but it was trying to take over. We have left some and two lilac trees at the back of the fruit plot for nectar loving insects.
Have under propagation: basil, thyme, bell peppers, chilli peppers, butternut squash, dumpling squash, crown prince pumpkin and pot marigolds.
I'm impressed that quite a few of the cuttings I took last year seem to have taken, mostly herbs but a few ornamentals as well. The bluebells I planted are coming up, the chickens are starting to lay well again and the frogs are doing shocking things in the pond.
Wassail

I planted my seeds in plastic coke bottles ( my partner likes coke with his Jack Daniels (and he likes a lot of Jack Daniels) and this is my way of recycling)
The've all popped up this week, I am so excited!!
Tomorrow we are both going on a basket weaving course. I'm really excited about that too. We've been together nearly five years and this is the first time we have done anything like this together.

Hello all!
Been off line for ages but back now!
Allotment like a paddy field - no chance of doing anything up there! Great sheets of standing water.
When I dug up the leeks for dinner there was a most alarming noise from the spade - sort of "Sssplurghghshsh"

big gardening plans thwarted firstly by really grot weather and secondly by a tree from next door falling into our lane. - difficult cos it was clearly dangerous but the owner is not there - in hospital so had to track down relies - they sorted someone and himself helped out. They have all these overgrown leylandii - really massive.. so it's good that one came down and after chat with tree surgeon - he is going to suggest lopping the others. yay
meanwhile in the greenhouse and propagator - have sown coriander, peas, red cabbage, more chilis, hanging basket tomatoes and garlic chives.

I've done some more digging today, ended up with another two wheelbarrowfuls of bindweed root. Seedlings going well upstairs which is all very exciting as it's my first year growing veg, I've planted out a raspberry and a redcurrant bush in the back garden and a cherry tree in the front. Nice and warm out today, spring is definately sprunging.
